2nd and 5th Saturday of each month at Centenary Park. Up to 200 stalls with local produce, crafts, and food.

Two market venues in Kuranda village open every day of the year with arts, crafts, and local artisan products.

January - March

Wet Season

Wet season. Mango harvest festivals, Australia Day celebrations at Centenary Park, agricultural field days.

April - May

Dry Season

Dry season begins. Queensland Youth Week (Apr 11-19), ANZAC Day services, Great Wheelbarrow Race Mareeba to Chillagoe (May 8-10), Colour Frenzy 5K Fun Run (May 4), Tradies Day Race Meeting at Mareeba Turf Club (May 24), coffee harvest begins.

June

Dry Season

Peak tourism season starts. Hot air ballooning daily, Chillagoe Caves tours, farm gate trail weekends.

July

Dry Season

Mareeba Rodeo (July 11-12), school holiday activities, Granite Gorge wildlife encounters, Lake Tinaroo fishing competitions.

August

Dry Season

Mareeba Multicultural Festival (August 29), Kuranda markets busiest period, wildflower season begins.

Spring events, Mareeba Show, agricultural expos, bird watching season peaks at Mareeba Wetlands.

Planning Your Visit Around Events

The most popular time to visit Mareeba Shire for events is July and August, when the annual Rodeo and Multicultural Festival draw visitors from across Far North Queensland. During these peak periods, accommodation in Mareeba fills quickly -- book well in advance, especially for the Rodeo weekend.

For a quieter experience, the April-June period offers perfect weather, daily hot air ballooning, and the start of the coffee harvest season. Many farms open their gates for tours and tastings during this time. The Kuranda markets operate year-round and are busiest during the dry season school holidays.
